The Meal

More info:

A collaboration between Hidemi Nishida, Asa Shimada and me. Hidemi invited us to be part of his project titled "The Meal" at the land art festival Rokko Meets Art in Rokko Mountains, Kobe, Japan.

One dining table and two chairs in the middle of a pond.
Over 3 weekends (October/November 2014) 3 performative pieces are shown.

An old green house was used as a work space and as a sound installation for the audience to enter and experience.

Materials collected from the surroundings and later used for the costumes.

Possible materials and objects for the performance.

Hidemi building the raft that was used for transport in the pond.

Asa interviewing a passer by.

Viaggio.
An old school in the mountain which is now the home and working space for a community of artist and musicians. Here we were lucky to live during the making of our project.

Tampopo

Tampopo was a one day project in Lydgalleriet, Bergen, and part of a one night art and music event called Line Art Fest.

Tampopo is the name of dandelion flowers in japanese; one of the words that I learned during this collaborative project with Asa Shimada, Hidemi Nishida and Ojas Grøn.

Materials: 80 timbers of wood and 40 meters of cotton.
Time: A few intensive days and 7 hours inside the gallery space.

The project turned out to be very much about communication, collaboration and improvisation.

The construction was a space that the audience could enter and retire from the rest of the event.
The space was filled with the smell of burned wood and the sound of fire.

In process - Fragments of Conversations

This installation was part of the exhibition Work Study (Exercises in Creating a Short Circuit) Part 2 in Room 8, Bergen, 3rd - 13th of April 2014. The exhibition was made possible by Sabine Popp and invited artists were Clare Reynolds, Kate Lynch, Carl Fedarb and myself.

Fragments of conversations. Text and sound.
‘In Process’ is based on conversations with people from Stoke-on-trent and looks at descriptions of motion and time in different types of work. Personal stories have been translated into fragmented text pieces, which again have been transformed into new sound recordings. I'm interested in the consequences of efficiency in large scale production and in my project I'm questioning the situation of the individual and the risque of becoming objectified or dehumanized.

A Voice and Something Else

A unique practice-based conference format investigating what might be in the voice beyond words 24th - 26th Jan 2014

Group II. Beyond the Voice.

What is in the voice that goes beyond words?
To what extent are practices of listening and the voice political?
How does the voice and listening challenge notions of 'being together'?
What might be in the voice that makes us unique?
What does our voice give away about ourselves that operates at the limit of our control?
